The Escarpment Retreat & Day Spa has been voted the best in Queensland and top 10 in the South Pacific region by Tripadvisor.
This is the second year running that the spa retreat has received an international Tripadvisor award.
In the past year, the retreat, nestled on the cliffs of Mt Tamborine in the Gold Coast hinterland, received an overwhelming number of positive guest reviews.
With over 60 million travel reviews and over 50 million hits a month, Tripadvisor is the world’s largest travel site being used by guests, journalists and travel agencies alike. Tripadvisor takes their role seriously. After collating its list of guest reviews in order to come up with its ‘best of the best’ rankings in various regions of the world, they then actually stay anonymously at the voted properties to ensure the integrity of their rankings
The Escarpment Retreat ranks in the top ten in the South Pacific region amidst long-established stalwarts such as Gaia Retreat & Day Spa and Fiji’s world famous Namale Resort. The property is also the highest ranked retreat and day spa in Queensland.
The owner, Gary Poole, brought his CEO experience from running one of the largest serviced apartment businesss in Melbourne ( nearly 400 apartments) to now putting his energy into this exclusive boutique property featuring just 6 villas.
Having made a ‘tree-change’ with his wife and young children four years ago, Gary felt the property had plenty of potential and set out to fully utilise its day spa, function room and its six villas. The Escarpment Retreat & Day Spa, which is set next to a small waterfall and overlooks a cliff (thus its name) also has a private cinema, a rainforest walk and landscaped gardens.
“I fell in love with the Escarpment Retreat as soon as I saw it. It has become a personal journey of sharing beauty with others and seeing them enjoy the experience. My job is about letting people know that we exist. Once they enter through our front wrought iron gates, the beauty of the property speaks for itself” he says
When asked about the Tripadvisor award, Gary explained “most awards are peer- based and rely on lobbying. I am too focused on my guests to be bothered with that. However this award is the result of genuine reviews from real guests who have actually stayed here. It shows that we are on the right track to being the best in Australia”.
